With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, the people of Igboora announce the passing of a towering figure, community pillar, and human capital developer, Dr. Amos Adepoju, the revered Asiwaju of Igboora, who departed this world earlier today at the graceful age of 80.

A true legend and servant-leader, Dr. Adepoju’s lifelong dedication to the growth and transformation of Igboora will forever be etched in the annals of history. From his youthful days in the 1950s to his final moments, he embodied selflessness, vision, and an unwavering commitment to community development.

As a pioneer and active member of the Igboora Literary and Progressive Union, later known as the Igboora Progressive Union (I.P.U.), Dr. Adepoju was instrumental in birthing numerous landmark projects – Igboora High School, Igboora Town Hall, Post Office, Technical College (now OYSCATECH) – all of which stand today as monuments to his enduring legacy.

Beyond community service, his national contributions were equally inspiring. As former Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan and National Commissioner for Interior, he championed educational excellence and opened doors of opportunity for countless indigenes, many of whom now serve as senior officers in Civil Defense, Immigration, and Prisons Services.

His life poses a timeless question to us all: “What legacy will you leave for your community? Will your contributions be celebrated long after you are gone?”

Dr. Amos Adepoju is survived by his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren, among whom is Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, the distinguished member representing Ibarapa Central and North Federal Constituency.

The entire Igboora community, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large mourn this monumental loss. May the soul of Dr. Amos Adepoju find eternal rest, and may his legacy of service, vision, and humanity continue to inspire generations yet unborn.
