OYSCATECH Announces Demise of Deputy Registrar, Alhaji Rahaman Onike, Describes him as a Resourceful, Prolific, Seasoned Administrator

The management of the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora, announces with profound sorrow the sudden passing of its Deputy Registrar of Students’ Affairs, Alhaji Rahaman Onike.

The sad event occurred on Thursday, September 11, 2025. Alhaji Onike was taken to the hospital after suddenly taking ill on campus shortly after delivering a lecture. He was subsequently pronounced dead by medical personnel.

In an official condolence statement signed by the Registrar of the College, Mr. R.F.A. Adeniji and Public Relations Officer, Olawore H. Opeyemi, expressed the institution’s collective devastation. “The entire OYSCATECH community is greatly devastated and saddened by the sudden passage of Alhaji Onike. He was a dedicated, resourceful, and seasoned administrator whose contributions to the growth of this institution are immeasurable. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”

The Rector, Professor Akinola Akinlabi, on behalf of the Academic Board, Management, Staff, and Students, extended his heartfelt condolences to the Registry Department, the academic community, and the bereaved family. He described the late Deputy Registrar as a diligent, prolific, and respected figure whose legacy will endure.

Alhaji Rahaman Onike was a dedicated public servant who joined the services of OYSCATECH in 2008 as an Administrative Officer II and rose diligently to the rank of Deputy Registrar. Until his death, he was the immediate past congregation representative on the Governing Council of the Institution. He was also widely known as a prolific writer, a compelling public speaker, and a respected comrade and activist.

An alumnus of Olivet High School, St. Andrew’s College of Education, Oyo, and the University of Ibadan, Alhaji Onike will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

According to the family, his remains will be laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites in Oyo Town on Friday, September 12, 2025. The funeral procession will depart from Igboora at 7:00 a.m.

The Rector and the entire college community pray that Almighty Allah grants his soul Aljanah Firdaus and gives his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
