Barrister Opeyemi Tijani (BOT), an Ibarapa-born and dedicated member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has expressed profound sorrow at the news of the passing of His Excellency, former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
In a heartfelt statement released to Ibarapainfo, Barrister Tijani described the late former President as a “dedicated patriot, a man of unwavering principle, and a significant figure in Nigeria’s modern history.” He highlighted President Buhari’s lifetime of service, spanning his distinguished military career, his role as Military Head of State, and his two terms as democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023.
“President Buhari’s commitment to the nation, whether in uniform or in civilian leadership, was never in doubt,” Barrister Tijani stated. “He approached his duties with a deep sense of responsibility and a desire to see a better Nigeria. His resilience and personal discipline were qualities that commanded respect.”
Barrister Tijani extended his deepest condolences to three primary groups:
- The Bereaved Family: “My heart aches for his beloved wife, Aisha Buhari, his children, grandchildren, and the entire Buhari family. They have lost a devoted patriarch. I pray Allah (SWT) grants them the immense strength and fortitude needed to bear this irreplaceable loss. May they find comfort in their cherished memories of his life and legacy.”
- The Nigerian Nation: “The entire nation mourns the passing of a former Head of State and President. His impact on our national journey is indelible. At this moment of collective grief, I urge all Nigerians to remember his service and pray for his peaceful rest. May we honour his memory through unity and continued dedication to building a stronger nation.”
- The All Progressives Congress (APC): “To our great party, the All Progressives Congress, this is the loss of a founding father, a leader, and a guiding light. President Buhari’s leadership was pivotal in the formation and success of the APC. His absence leaves a significant void within the party ranks. I stand in solidarity with the party leadership and all members during this difficult time.
“Barrister Tijani concluded his statement by offering prayers: “We beseech Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, grant his soul the highest station in Aljannah Firdaus, and grant solace to all who mourn him. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un (Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return).”
